Alexandria Area - Walleye are Smackin Spoons!

Over the last week and half, fishing has been very consistent and predictable. As you all know this a luxury we rarely get. Even with all the weather changes the bite remains strong. I've been fishing on a few different lakes and they have all been kicking out decent walleye.

I've been concentrating me efforts in the low light periods on the weed lines. I've been having my best luck in 12' to 18' FOW.

I'm always trying different baits but the 1/8oz perch or white glow Frostee jigging spoons have been my baits of choice. I usually tip my spoons with a 1/2 a fathead. Simply pound these baits into the bottom and jig them up a foot or so occasionally. Then let the bait fall and hold it a few inches off the bottom. This jigging sequence has iced more walleye for me than any other.

If you're looking for a quick trip this weekend come on up to Alexandria and enjoy some of the best walleye fishing the state has to offer.

Good Luck!
